I had the honor to sing at the opening of the @hexpositie – an exposition about the witch trials and current day femicide. A topic close to my heart. ♥️
Roermond, the city of this exposition and where I was born, is the place where most witches (wise women and men) were murdered, from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. I can tell, by working with women and men from all over the world, that it still impacts our culture…
I realized yesterday that the woman we were honoring in particular, is Silvana. She was my very first childhood friend and next door neighbor. And unfortunately a victim of domestic violence and femicide. I missed her funeral when she passed because I lived in Bali. I dedicated my women’s retreat to her and gave her a special place on the altar that edition. But now I got to speak with her mom and (without knowing before yesterday morning) honor her on this opening. I feel grateful for that.
Many women I know, amazing, kind, powerful women I know, are currently still (regularly) in unsafe situations. Because of strangers, or (previous) partners. Please let’s stand up for and with each other. 🙏🏼
May all beings everywhere be happy and free ♥️ is the meaning of the mantra. May we call co-create a world where everyone, everywhere is happy, safe and free. And let’s look out for each other. 🕊️ Here you can watch the video.
The other song I sang was “Mens Durf te Leven” – in my Limburgs dialect.
